Who qualifies?

The ecology center has two types of Eco-grants: (1) Youth Eco-Grants and (2) Environmental Education/Project Grants (adults). To qualify, you must be a resident, agency, or organization in the Tri-City area.

How much money is available?

Each year we set aside about $600 for each category. We generally contribute $200 to $300 per application, but this can vary according to the project.

Who has Received Grants?

During the past 10 years (2007-2017), the ecology center has “granted” money for 35 grant applications:

  1. Eagle Scout project: Herb garden restoration at Ardenwood Historic Farm – 4/07
  2. Irvington High School: 2007 School Earth Day event – 5/07
  3. City of Fremont: Six binoculars and three microscopes for Nature Center classes – 9/08
  4. Irvington High School: Environmental Education Conference fee –  10/08
  5. Eagle Scout project: Butterfly garden at the Tule Ponds at Tyson Lagoon – 12/08
  6. Fremont PTA: Assistance with Transportation Survey and Study – 1/09
  7. Kennedy High School: Sustainable garden – 5/09
  8. Eagle Scout Project: Butterfly garden at Glenmoor Elementary School – 8/09
  9. LEAF: Gardening supplies for demonstration and educational sites – 11/09
  10. Quest Project: Worm composting at Parkmont Elementary School – 1/10

  12. FIERCE: FUSD Intra-High School Garden at American High School – 7/10
  13. Newark Jr. High School’s Effective Cycling at the Intermediate Level (2) – 1/10 and 10/10
